Located on Nelsons beautiful waterfront, Harbour Light Bistro & Restaurant was for many years a dairy before becoming a restaurant, many local's remember buying ice cream from the shop. It is one of the more iconic structures on the waterfront and has amazing views over the water, the boulder bank and light house.

Steve Coyne - Owner / Head Chef
Harbour Light Bistro & Restaurant's focus is on quality fresh locally sourced cuisine. Owner and chef, Steve Coyne has created a menu that he describes as “a slightly different angle on traditional cuisine”. 
Nelson has some of the best fish suppliers in the country and at Harbour Light Bistro & Restaurant we take advantage of this fact to supply the best and freshest quality fish on the market, at the moment we are currently serving Seafood Ciopinno as well as Ora King Salmon and lamb on the menu. For the non meat eaters we have a fantastic vegetarian dish of Kumera ravioli. We also have a 3 course vegan menu always available too.

Tony Chester - Head Chef
After gaining experience in the fine dining scene in Auckland I travelled and cooked in Europe working in England and France before settling in Nelson 3 years ago. In my cooking I use very few bought or processed foods. I believe that cooking from scratch ensures integrity with the final product.
We use this philosophy at Harbour Light Bistro, from making our own sauces and breads to curing and smoking our own bacon. Keeping the food simple and concentrating on technique and flavour is our objective.

Jessica Coyne - Operations Manager/Sommelier 
Jess has over 15 years experience in hospitality, she utilises this to manage the day to day running of the restaurant from behind the scenes, although she can be found on the floor most days.
During her time in the industry, she developed a keen passion for wine, obtaining a certificate in level 3 WSET. Dedicated to always learning more, Jess hosts the Harbour Light Bistro Winter Wine Club which she created in 2014.
Each wine on our menu has been personally tasted and picked by Jessica, often having to taste the wines with our constantly changing menus. It's an arduous task but someone has to do it.

Tuesday to Friday: 11:30 - late
Saturday to Sunday: 11.00 - late
